ABOUT THE ARTISAN

ABOUT THE ARTISAN

Carie Weber is a Nebraska native and owner of The Accent Studio. Weber has been decorative painting professionally since 1984, and has been commissioned for work in the United States and worldwide. She specializes in creating new, unique finishes and she strives for “one of a kind” designs. Through her extensive experience, she has become well diversified and can create finishes for anything the client desires.

ABOUT THE ARTISAN

Hello! I’m Carie Weber and I would like you to know how passionate I am about the career path I have chosen in decorative finishing, aka faux painting. I have been learning and evolving with the trends since 1984 when “faux painting” was first being noticed. The Accent Studio first started as a successful floral design business where I was able to work from home and raise my two children. One day, while thumbing through a magazine, a cool backdrop caught my eye: it was a rag painting effect. I decided I needed to know how to do that, so I researched at the library, came up with my “glaze recipe,” transformed my family room, and the rest is history! It is so rewarding to take a rather boring wall or space and bring it to life. I have had the opportunity to work with many great builders, designers, students, instructors, and homeowners over the years and call many of them friends now.

Some may think that “decorative painting” is a trend, but I am here to prove that it is very timeless and will continue to make great spaces for years to come. My goal is to introduce you to the many, many possibilities with this thing called “decorative finishing.” 🎨

Career Highlights

Within the past 30 years I have been lucky to travel worldwide for training, instructing, and completing commissioned projects. I have even been a four-time guest on a television show called Hometime. (Wow, was that a fun experience and honor!) They invited me to join their team as a co-host and, reluctantly, I passed to keep my true passion of creating. While traveling to different states, I met a developer that led me to a project in London. It was so amazing to work in a once-called “castle” that was being transformed into flats and to be a part of such a grand project. Another highlight of my career has to be the 3 months that I spent abroad in Doha, Qatar working in palaces, villas, and homes. There I was part of an American company that had a design firm, and magazine publication. We had a wonderful crew and part of my role was to train them on new finishes, promote our decorative painting division, design, and complete amazing finishes myself. I have had the privilege to call Florida, Las Vegas, California, Texas, and other places home for months while working on whole-house projects. I am happy to travel ANYWHERE to create and put my mark on more great places and spaces. I look forward to any opportunity that comes along.
